Behind the Ear

A behind the ear – BTE – hearing aid is probably the most recognisable and traditional of all the styles. They sit behind the ear with the sound passing through a thin transparent tube to an ear mould that fits in the outer part of your ear.

BTE models are usually slight larger in size, but the larger casing means they are able to provide more power than some of the smaller hearing aids. The greater power comes from larger batteries which provide greater amplification if you have a more severe hearing loss.

The larger size also makes them easier to clean and change the batteries.
